About us
We are a long established private childcare provider who have been operating within the school since September 2004 and have won awards in the following:
- Gold status by CIW
- HSPSS – Healthy Sustainable Pre School Scheme
- Gold award in the Small Workplace Awards
- Gender awareness award
Our aim is to provide your child with quality, accessible childcare in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We offer a child centred environment which meets the social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional needs of each individual child.

The childcare provision we offer is as follows:
- Our Wraparound Care:
Our wraparound sessions commence at 11.45am and end at 3.20pm (term time).
We collect the wraparound children from the Nursery at the end of the morning session and take them to the Childcare Centre. The children eat their lunch (packed lunch to be provided by parents), followed by rest/quiet time before the afternoon’s activities based on the Foundation Phase commence. Although the afternoon wraparound session ends at 3.20 pm, it is possible for children to remain in our care up to 5.15pm by attending our After School Club (subject to availability).
- After School Club:
Our After School Club commences at the end of the school day and ends at 5.15pm (term time). The children are collected from the school hall and taken to the Childcare Centre. Following a snack, the children take part in a range of age appropriate activities such as arts and crafts, cooking, board games and outdoor activities as well as having ample time for free play.
3. Playgroup
Our Playgroup commences at 12.50pm and ends at 3.20pm (term time). It is open to all 2-3 year olds (not just those who are on the admissions list for Alltwen Primary School). During the Playgroup session, the children will take part in a range of activities, based on the Foundation Phase. They will have lots of opportunities for free play and outdoor play and learning.
* Please note – your child does not have to be toilet trained to attend Playgroup as we have nappy changing facilities.
Number of Children Catered for:
Hoots is registered with the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CIW) to care for a maximum of 19 children aged 2 to 11 years old.
Opening Hours:
Our current opening hours are between 11.45am to 5.15pm.
Food
A healthy snack will be provided during Playgroup, Wraparound and After School Club sessions.
Staff
Our management and staff have many years experience in childcare and are all well qualified to a minimum of Level 3. All staff hold current Paediatric First Aid certificates as well as Food Hygiene qualifications. Our staffing ratios are as recommended by CIW and are 1:4 for 2 year olds, 1:8 for 3 – 7 year olds and 1:10 for 8 – 11 year olds.
Fees
From April 2019 our fees are:
- Wraparound care – £14.00 per session
- Playgroup – £8.50 per session
- After School Club – £8.00 per session
