Year 3 17/9/21

We’ve had another exciting week this week, and are really getting stuck into our new topics this week.

In Literacy, we’ve been developing our use of basic punctuation.  Our topic this half term is focused on explaining topics clearly both orally and in writing, so we’ve been practising our oral presentations – we’ve done brilliantly!

In Maths we’ve been using number patterns to help us add sets of numbers.  Mentally we’ve been focusing on super-quick recall of tables 2, 5 and 10 – we’re smashing it!

Our Topic is “All about me: sound and hearing”.  We’ve been thinking about what types of animals have the best hearing and why and how we hear sound.  We’re really enjoying it.  We can’t wait for next week!

Year 3 Weekly Evaluation 02/10/20

We had a great time in the Riverside Centre this week.  We made shelters and we ate our lunch in them, which was the best part.  We tested if they were waterproof by our leader, Ashley, throwing  water from a watering can all over the den.  We also played elves, giants and wizards which was a lot of fun.  We’re very lucky that we’re going to the Riverside and we can’t wait to go again next week in our smart, new weatherproof clothes.

Tonight our Christmas cards are coming home.  We used the theme of a robin on our card and used our handprint to make the body.  The bird is individual to our handprint.  We all enjoyed  making our first Christmas card in Year 3.

In English, we have learned about conjunctions in sentences: these were called and, but and so.  We used adjectives to describe and we learned to spell past tense verbs.  In maths, we have been learning number bonds to 100 and over.  We’ve enjoyed our sessions of “Big Maths” and we have place value.

In our Topic, we have learned about World War 2 and the Blitz.  Some of us have brought in medals and  photos and even a real shell of a bomb to class!    Next week we are looking forward to starting our Missions in our Topic work.
