Last week we worked hard on counting to 20, recognizing numbers to 10 and ordering numbers to 5. We also practised writing our numbers to 3, it was quite tricky.
Welsh Week
Last week we had so much fun celebrating our Welsh heritage in class. We painted red dragons, made paper leeks and card daffodils and best of all we got to make ‘Crempogs’ and eat them!! They were yummy! Crempogs are Welsh pancakes made with buttermilk, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, they are smaller but fluffier than normal pancakes. On Friday we performed our song’ Bore da Doli’ during the Eisteddfod which was held in the school hall, everyone thought we were super, we looked fabulous in our Welsh costumes.
King March’s Ears
We have been learning a new story in class, it’s a Welsh folktale about a king with a secret. Under his crown and his long hair he has ears like a horse!!
Poor King March! We have been learning actions to help us to re-tell the story, maybe you could practise at home too, by clicking on this link –
Jolly Phonics
This week we have been busy learning the letter sounds ‘s’ and ‘i’. We have learned the Jolly Phonics songs, painted the letter sounds and traced the letter sounds with feathers in our multi-sensory trays. We also listened to and enjoyed the story of King March’s Ears, it’s a Welsh folktale. We will be learning the story in class with actions to help us re-tell the story.
Christmas Fever!!!!
Last week we were very busy making Christmas decorations and cards in class. We also decorated our Christmas tree and practised our Christmas concert for the first time on the stage!! Keep practising the songs ready for our concert ‘Whoops-a-Daisy Angel’ on Tuesday 10th December at 9.15 am.
Children in Need
Last Friday was Children in Need, we all dressed in yellow or wore our Pudsey Bear t-shirts and accessories, we had lots of fun. First we took part in Joe Wicks’ fitness routine and then we all had a healthy snack. There were yoghurts, flapjacks, fruit skewers, rice cracker crisps, cereal bars and raisins!!! Yum!! We managed to raise over £400 for Children in Need whilst enjoying ourselves too!
Fireworks!
Last week we were drawing pictures in our mark making books of Bon Fire night. We were learning how to draw a person with a head, eyes, nose, mouth, body, arms and legs. We tried really hard to hold the pencil correctly by pinching it between our thumb and index finger. Our pictures were smashing, some of us even drew our Mums and Dads watching the fireworks too.
Miss Walters helped us to paint firework pictures to take home! It was a busy first week back and a chilly one too, we need to remember to wear our coats, hats and scarves now that Winter is well and truly on its way.
Faithe the Fairy’s Birthday
Before the half-term holiday it was Faithe’s birthday we had so much fun at her 4th Birthday Party. The Little Red Hen and Fflic and Fflac came too. We had lots to eat and drink and played pass the parcel, Ezra and Imogen won a prize!!
There was a disco and party games. Faithe had a unicorn cake, we helped her to blow out the candles and she gave us all a party bag to take home.
Thank you Faithe for a lovely day.
Our Senses
Last week we found out about our sense of smell. We had lots of different pots with different things in them. There was strawberry jelly, mint, cheesy wotsits, pickled onions, tuna, salami sausage, rosemary, star anise, coffee powder, tea leaves and curry powder. We also played a smelling game where we had to guess what was in the pot by smelling it with a blindfold on. It was fun!!
