Blog 22.11.19

In our writing this week, we have been looking at commas. We use commas in a list. They are used so that we can take breaths in a sentence. A comma looks like this:

,

In our number lessons, we have done a lot of adding and taking away. We added and subtracted multiples of 10 from 2 digit numbers. We also did some partitioning!

This week we have been testing our knowledge of pitch and melody in our topic lessons. We used the song ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’ to show how the melody changes through the song.

We are excited to say that we have practised our Christmas concert a LOT this week and it is starting to look really, really good!

Looking forward to next week.

Egyptian Centre Trip

On Thursday 10th October, Year 1-2 and Year 2 went on a trip to the Egyptian Centre in Swansea University because our topic is Ancient Egypt. Here are some of the things we got up to…

We wrapped a dummy mummy in bandages.

We found stuff in the museum.

We put hats on when Luke was telling a story about Ancient Egyptians.

We saw the toy pyramid that was the same as ours in class.

We did a quiz about animals.

We looked at mummified snakes and crocodiles, there was even a hologram mummified snake. We loved that!

We played a game called Senet. We had to get all of our team’s cups off the board by making moves with a dice.

We had a go at a feeling game where we had to feel the animal in the bag and guess what animal it was.

We had an AMAZING time and would love to go back and do it all again!

Year 2 Friday 04.10.19

This week, we have been very busy making 3D pyramids. Some of us found the folding a little bit tricky. Some of us thought it was easy.

We have also been learning how to double numbers. We even had a go at halving the same numbers. In the beginning, we thought it was really easy. Then, it got more challenging. We love a challenge! A song called ‘Doubles’ helped us to remember.

Hieroglyphics were the hot topic of Year 2 this week. We worked together to crack the codes and work out the secret messages. Cracking the codes was a little bit tricky, but it was challenging and fun.

What a busy week it has been. We are SUPER excited about our trip next week! 🙂

Rugby World Cup Fun!

Today we watched Wales playing Georgia in the Rugby World Cup. We felt so proud when we saw the Welsh men scoring lots of tries. Everyone was cheering the boys on. It felt amazing when we heard the final whistle and we were so glad Wales won! Da iawn the boys!!!!!
